Convert DVD to MKV

Save the movie or selected chapters in an MKV file, with deliberate choices about sound and subtitles.

What you can save

MKV is useful for computer playback. A selected subtitle can remain switchable where supported; picture cropping can require subtitles to be burned into the picture.

From source to saved file

  1. Open your DVD, ISO image or VIDEO_TS folder and check the automatically selected main movie.
  2. Preview the title, select chapters and choose the audio and subtitle options. Trim the time range or crop the picture when useful.
  3. Select MKV as the output and start. Test the file and subtitle display in your intended player.

Free and Pro, clearly

Free and Pro have the same DVD title, chapter, format and picture options. Both automatically select the main movie, allow a correction, and support chapter selection, combined or separate output, time trimming and picture cropping. Pro removes the DVD allowance limit.

Free includes 3 different DVDs and 3 different music CDs in full, counted separately. When an allowance is used up, a new disc outputs the first 50% of the selected range; for a CD, this applies to each selected track. Successful conversions count once per disc. Failures and cancellations do not count. A previously counted disc stays eligible for full output.

Check the result

This page describes MKV output from supported media. Play the saved file, check the selected range and listen to the sound. Keep your original. No universal device compatibility or guaranteed compression ratio is implied.

Questions before you start

Will there be a watermark?

No. Neither edition adds a watermark or an artificial speed limit.

Can I save only part of the recording?

Yes. Set the start and end in the source preview. DVD chapters and time trimming can be used together. The disc half-length limit applies after the selected range is calculated.

Does my media leave my computer?

Conversion is local. CD metadata lookup, online licensing and update checks have separate network behavior described in the Privacy Notice.

What if the result is not what I expected?

Keep the original, check your source selection and try a short range. Use Support in the app to review and submit a diagnostic report when needed. Review it for personal information before sending.

Please respect creators and follow the laws that apply to you. Copy only media you are entitled to copy. BROOVIS detects observed DVD copy protection and does not remove it; owning a disc does not automatically mean you may copy it.
