Extract MP3 audio from an MP4 video

Keep a talk, a performance or a voice recording as an audio file.

What you can save

MP3 is a lossy format. Extracting from an already compressed recording does not improve its quality; use an appropriate quality setting for speech or music.

From source to saved file

  1. Open Extract Audio and add the MP4 video. Select the audio track to use.
  2. Preview the selected track and set the start and end times if you only want part of the recording.
  3. Choose MP3, check the destination and start. Listen to the result before removing your original video.

Free and Pro, clearly

Free supports MP3 and AAC/M4A from video files, subject to the two-task file queue. Pro adds FLAC/WAV, separate multi-track exports and supported original-track extraction from files. These file rules are separate from DVD audio rules.

Check the result

This page describes MP3 output from supported media. Play the saved file, check the selected range and listen to the sound. Keep your original. No universal device compatibility or guaranteed compression ratio is implied.

Questions before you start

Will there be a watermark?

No. Neither edition adds a watermark or an artificial speed limit.

Can I save only part of the recording?

Yes. Set the start and end in the source preview. Only the selected time range is saved. Keep the original if you may want a different passage later.

Does my media leave my computer?

Conversion is local. CD metadata lookup, online licensing and update checks have separate network behavior described in the Privacy Notice.

What if the result is not what I expected?

Keep the original, check your source selection and try a short range. Use Support in the app to review and submit a diagnostic report when needed. Review it for personal information before sending.
